| Tech Files: Upgrading your system to v4.0 |

If you have a current subscription plan with Best
Software you should have received your upgrade to
version 4.0 of MAS 90/200 by now. Due to the
complexity of the upgrade, we suggest you utilize The
DataWest Group for installation. However, if you are
planning to upgrade on your own, you must follow the
instructions that came with your upgrade.
As most of you know, there have been significant
changes to the data file structure of the General
Ledger in this new version. Due to these changes,
there are pre-conversion utilities noted in the literature
that should be run on the current version to insure a
smooth upgrade process. The utilities check for
potential problems such as Out of Balance postings,
future year transactions and missing General Ledger
accounts.
One last item: Whether you complete the upgrade and
conversion yourself or with the help of our staff, please
be sure to download the latest service pack from the
support section of Best's website.

| Help Desk: General Ledger Detail Report Layout in v4.0 |

To make custom report building attainable to the
average user, Best Software made Crystal Reports the
standard reporting software in the General Ledger. The
initial response has been favorable as most of our
clients that have already upgraded, like the flexibility
and the design wizard that Crystal offers. However,
one problem that has surfaced for some of our clients
concerns the General Ledger Detail Report. The good
news is that this is easily remedied.
Companies that have been using MAS 90/200 for years
are used to seeing one line per detail record when
running the Detail Report. Due to the new potential
length of account numbers growing to 32 digits, all
reports have been built with this taken into
consideration. The GL Detail report in version 4.0 is
now two lines per detail record, making this report
twice as long as before. If this presents a problem for
your company, your reports can be modified through
the Crystal Reports designer. If you need help, you can
call our office for support in changing this or any other
Crystal Report.
